Due to accommodation issues in Clarenville, Targa has decided to move the event back to its original slot, the 3rd week in September. For 2017, this means the dates will now be the 7th through the 16th. The driving school will be the 7th and 8th, Tech/Registration will be the 9th, Prologue the 10th, with the event officially being scored from the 11th through 15th. The 16th will be the Awards Reception.
Targa also has blocks of hotel rooms under our control for Clarenville – first time that’s happened. You can directly deal with Targa or the hotel to access these rooms. Only catch, you must be officially entered in Targa 2017 first to obtain Targa controlled rooms. These rooms will only be released if the competitor is first registered with the event. And they are a first come, first serve basis. More information on the number of rooms, which hotels, and when exactly these rooms will be available, will be released in the coming weeks. Email email@example.com for more specific information.
The option is still there if you choose to deal with Maxxim Vacations (travel agency) and book rooms through them directly since they too have blocks of rooms, both in St. John’s and Clarenville.
Ferries will not be affected by the change back to the regular dates. Argentia and Port aux Basques runs will still be available both to and from the island.
Potential competitors, fans planning vacation time around the event, should adjust their schedules for the new dates.
