A Message from Robert Giannou, President of Targa & Bambina
Since the 2017 Targa Newfoundland event there has been talk of a possible change in management and ownership. I am writing to clarify that we are and always have been committed to the successful continuance and preservation of Targa Newfoundland.
There is no other racing event like it on earth because of the unique and rugged beauty of Newfoundland, the wonderful, welcoming people of our province, our supportive sponsors, and the energy, skill and dedication of our drivers and their teams.
We wish to assure everyone associated with Targa Newfoundland, in particular the competitors, sponsors, surrounding communities and volunteers, that we are focused on continuing to make this event memorable and a resounding success!
We are committed to improving both Targa and the Bambina and their associated Familiarization Schools. I am pleased to report that we are making excellent progress in our talks with the City of St. John’s, and the towns of Marystown and Carbonear, as well as some 25 other communities about their future participation in Targa Newfoundland and the Bambina. Plans for exciting new and challenging set stages and much improved courses for both the Targa and Bambina events are well underway.
