Our friends at Salvaje Brewing Co. and Longhouse in the gorgeous outport of Salvage at the tip of the Eastport Peninsula have produced a tasty brew in honour of Targa Newfoundland.
The Targa “Pedal to the Metal” pilsner is produced onsite in the Salvaje Brewing Company and it’s “the perfect beer to celebrate after the race”. It also pairs well with any of the delicious menu items at the Longhouse restaurant such as their scrumptious fish and chips, moose lasagna and lobster ravioli.

Targa pilsner is only available on tap at the Longhouse at the moment with plans to sell it in cans as well.
Overlooking the scenic harbour of this historic outport, Salvaje Longhouse is located in a former fish plant that sat empty for a decade. The Longhouse opened last fall with Targa competitors as its first guests as we celebrated our 1000th stage since 2002. The Longhouse features a restaurant, café and microbrewery with accommodations now under construction.

Salvage is one of Canada’s greatest hidden gems. Salvage is a scenic coastal community nestled among two harbours – Salvage Harbour and Bishop’s Harbour – in a sheltered bay. These beautiful harbours offer the secluded tranquility so desired by travelers looking to escape from the busyness of everyday life. Salvage is also renowned for its fishing industry and hiking trails, being just steps away from the Damnable Trail Network and spectacular Terra Nova National Park.

It’s definitely worth the drive along the beautiful Road to the Beaches even when you are not travelling at Targa rally speeds!
